Member Spotlight: Ana Espina

A smiling woman, Ana Espina, stands beside a dressmaker’s mannequin. She has short grey hair, glasses and is wearing a colourful floral top with long yellow earrings. Ana is pinning or adjusting a piece of patterned fabric on the mannequin, which is dressed in a peach-coloured garment. The background is black with a large grey outline of the Lark bird logo, and the Ana Espina by Anaisa logo appears in turquoise lettering on the lower right.

Ana Espina is a couture designer, milliner and dressmaker whose vibrant creativity and love of colour shine through every piece she creates.

Working under her brand Ana Espina by Anaisa, she crafts bespoke outfits, hats, fascinators and accessories, drawing on a lifelong passion for making that began in the Basque region of Northern Spain. Her training includes three years with renowned designer Lourdes Lacalle, ten years running her own couture business in Vitoria and a millinery apprenticeship in London before establishing her studio here in Southsea. Known for her eye for detail and her warm, personal approach, Ana’s designs bring confidence and joy to clients across the South Coast.

For our December Startup Sunday, Ana is hosting a Sustainable Christmas Sewing workshop. Using reclaimed and recycled fabrics, she will teach a few simple hand-sewing stitches that anyone can learn, even beginners. You will create a festive decoration of your choice, from stars to Santa’s boots, in a relaxed and mindful session that blends creativity with sustainability. All materials are provided and children are welcome with supervision.

We are excited to welcome Ana to end the year with a cosy, creative morning filled with colour, craft and festive cheer.
